The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) is Japan’s leading university and a global leader in higher education and research. Founded in 1877, it has a long history of academic excellence and innovation. The University will establish a new undergraduate degree program, UTokyo College of Design (UTokyo Design), in the fall of 2027. UTokyo Design unites creative design approaches with the world-class education and academic resources of the university. It aims to nurture a new generation of leaders capable of transforming today’s complex social challenges into tangible, impactful solutions for the benefit of all. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum and a collaborative learning environment, UTokyo Design empowers students to connect ideas across fields and work together to drive meaningful change in society.
UTokyo Design will foster a vibrant learning community that welcomes students with diverse perspectives, backgrounds, experiences, and a strong awareness of social issues. To accommodate students from all over the world, the instruction will be conducted entirely in English. The application will open in the fall of 2026 and the program will launch in the fall of 2027.
